As I reflect on my time in Malawi, my heart overflows with the gratitude that I have to have been part of God’s work in such a beautiful part of His world. Through the countless faces I encountered and the stories I shared, I was reminded of the ineffable truth that God’s love transcends all borders, cultures, and languages. I saw His hand at work in every moment through the kindness and perseverance of His people. This journey has not only strengthened my faith but also reminded me that His call for us to love and serve others is a lifelong mission, one of which I have only just begun. We are all part of God’s global family, called to share His love wherever He shall lead us.
I traveled to Malawi 2024 with a group from Virginia in 2024. It was such a blessing in my life. I have always dreamed to serve in Africa and being there opened my eyes and heart to the presence of God that I have never experienced before. Steve and Kim were a joy to work with and so welcoming that they felt like family by the end. Words that describe the people and experience that I had would be love, peace, and transformation.
I remember one evening a woman came to our team deeply hurt and broken. I felt discouraged, as though I could do nothing of value. We hugged and prayed over her. Little did I know, those hugs that I claimed as invaluable, the Lord used to move her to tears saying, “I have never felt a love like this.” She felt the love of Jesus that night, maybe for the first time. God can use anyone, anytime, in any way for his glory!
My time in Africa taught me that love transcends all and love needs no translation. I went to Africa expectant of God’s glory and power. And let me tell you, He showed up! But, He amazed and humbled me through how he can use even the smallest acts of love to do such great things.
God is moving in Malawi! During my visit, I got to see how God is raising up local people and moving them into position for a mighty work to come! I love the relationships EMI has and the ways they desire to serve in a healthy and strategic way.
Always be open to God’s calling. It was such a blessing to experience a different culture while distributing maize and meeting the people. I love the children and their beautiful smiles. Kim and Steve are great hosts and it’s obvious they are working where God has called them.
